Wedding Ring Dilema.. and ideas?

Hello ladies!
I've got sort of an unsual Engagement ring. I absolutley love it, but it is not sold as an engagement ring. It has a horribly wide, square setting and no band comes anywhere close to "flat against it"

I set it out for a quote for a custom band and it's $2436 for a band that sits right up against it! I did want it a little blingy.

What other options do I have? I don't want to wear my E ring on my right hand. How bad does a gap look between bands and E rings.

Here is a pic of the setting.

I just can't see spending that much money on a band! Whew....

Here is it from the top.. I just love it so much. I'm upset it's this difficult to find a band!

  • Your ring is beautiful! Only suggestions I came up with: - get a flat, wide wedding band with no diamonds almost like a mens ring which may give your setting some room or ask if you can get a ring welded to it to make it closer to your other band or 3rd idea is to go with those popular "V" shaped where the band actually comes down into a divet a bit so your diamond can be cushioned in it. I'd keep going to stores and see what fits.
    Good luck!!!

  • Could you find a ring with a gap for the diamond?  Something where the band would go under...  Just throwing a few ideas out there!
  • It doesn't look like there is a terrible amount of space under the center stone of your ring, but what about a very flat/thin band that would almost fit under it? I really don't think a gap would look bad with that ring, if it were the same width as your e-ring band. PS BEAUTIFUL ring!

  • Thanks for all the ideas ladies! The women at the store suggested a Shadow band which might have been close to what reis. was suggesting! I just have a really hard time picturing what it looks like, but that might be an option. With that though, i'd still have to buy ring to make the shadow ring out of (couple hundred bucks) and then the pretty blingy band i wanted. I guess it'd still be cheaper!

No idea what to do! I'm going to the store saturday to see the pictures of what they've come up. They wont send them to me (guessing because it's THEIR custom design)

  • Maybe a thin blingy band that semi-fits under the diamond?  They're all the rage now

Judging by the large setting, I think a wedding band wrap or guard would be best for you.  Something like these:

Or maybe just a very small band would work as well:

I got a very small band just like the one above and it is so dainty and small it may just go with yours too if you don't mind that it's not completely flush against your engagement ring.

  • Not sure if putting the pic here makes it easier to see than my profile pic but I have a similar issue and also do not want my e-ring on my right hand. Plus it would have to be resized and it is an eternity band so that is almost impossible. I am planning on finding a band like the third that Goofy mentioned to go with mine. I think my ring is raised a little higher off the band than yours is but I think it would still look good. I would shop around and just see what you like and go with that. Good luck!

  • Have you received quotes from several different jewelers? One might be less than the other. It's a beautiful ring!

  • I had almost the exact ring and problem. For v-day FI decided to upgrade my ring. I chose one that I didn't need a custom band for and the old one is now my right hand ring.

Your FI didn't mind? I feel like mine might be a little upset.. he knows we don't have my options but Buying a whole new ring set might be the cheaper thing to do. Geesh. I just don't know. I love this ring. I think i'd feel strange making it a right hand ring.
