Buffet table!

My partner and I are planning our wedding for September 7th and the plans are to have a buffet style dinner. We haven't been able to agree on catering or menu choices. So we decided to compromise and do a little of both our choices. The plans are to have the table separated and because my partner thinks she's a comedian she's actually pretty funny lol and everyone who knows her knows she is a jokester we decided to put up 2 signs one specifying that those are my partners food choices and one specifying that the other half is mine. They will be very different foods. Lol. Hers being mashed potatoes, shredded chicken, chilli, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken. Obviously those are comfort foods but who doesn't like comfort food. Lol. And mine being grilled chicken, lasagna, and mainly the foods that I consider wedding foods. So opinion on this idea? Tacky or funny and personal? Thanks.

Re: Buffet table!

  • It sounds like a lot of good food to me. We are also doing a buffet and decided upon pork BBQ, fried chicken, vegetable baked ziti with a bunch of down home comfort sides. We had originally planned to have a huge spread but the costs obviously add up. After discussing with a caterer your plans and finding out if its within budget, you may decide to do the "pick me" option on your invitation for food selection instead of having different "sides" to pick at the reception that way you have enough food of what people would rather eat. Sorry. I've been crunching budget numbers so long I think in terms of money. LOL

  • We were going to do this but because we are doing it on friday the 6th at about 6:45 we've settled on just doing a dessert buffet to cut down! We are on a VERY small budget and are having a back yard wedding. I think it's a great idea for a laid back wedding.

This is a terrible idea. 6:45 is meal time, you must either host a meal or have your wedding at a non-meal time. The time of dy determines what needs to be served. If you cannot afford to serve a meal or just want a dessert buffet then you either need to push the start of your ceremony back to no earlier than 8 pm or have the ceremony and reception between 2 and 5 pm.
