This morning, my FI surprised me and told me we had to get up early and to wear something comfortable and tennis shoes. We drive about 45 minutes away to this school parking lot and this guy pulls up. He had arranged for us to go on a hot air balloon ride and watch the sunrise. It was so much fun! I loved being that far off the ground and taking in all the beautiful farms below and the scenery. This car was following us to make sure they could drive us back to our cars when we landed. Along the flight we started flying lower and the pilot said we could practice with little toy parachuters to see who could hit a target which was being prepared by the car on the ground. They had this red cardboard sign for us to hit, but when I was ready to throw my little parachuter out they turn the red sign over and it says "Will You Marry Me?"!! My FI then whipped out the ring from his pocket and placed it on my finger. I don't know if I squeeled more or cried more. :-) I felt like being suspended in the air, both my deceased mom and grandpa were looking down on us witnessing that special moment. (Which made me sob even more).
So despite our agreeing to marry back in May without an engagement ring, this morning made the proposal that much more "official" and was such a beautiful memory for us. It was one of the most special moments of my life.
Since its' so early I'm still waiting for people to wake up so I can share with those I'm closest to before putting on Facebook. But I figured I could at least share with my Knot girls. :-)
