Ideas for Fall Wedding Favors

Hi - I just booked my wedding, October 19, 2013 and even though its over a year away I know how fast the time can get away from you. My FI and I are trying to come up with some good ideas for the favors. We want to keep with the fall theme but we also want to choose something that everyone wil like. We were thinking about an edible favor. Any ideas would help - thanks ladies

  • I did caramel apples for my sisters shower. It was a ton of work but if its in your budget to buy them they were a hit.
  • You can't go wrong with caramel or chocolate covered apples, you could get leaf shaped molds and do little chocolates in them, bag them up and tie them with a matching color ribbon that compliments the wedding colors. You could also have a candy buffet and let the guests help themselves with to go baggies and scoops!

Because you have this fall season to help, go to some of the craft stores and see what is out.  Look at their containers, bags, and boxes to see if anything helps you to brainstorm.

Cookie and candy molds will have everything from pumpkins, apples, to leaf shapes.  Canning is popular in the fall.  Google mason jar recipes and you will find ideas for edible or beverage recipes such as ciders, soups, jams, butters, or cookie mixes, to non-edible items such as bath salts.  Trail mixes or popcorn varieties can make for delicious favors.

What are some of the favorite things you and your FI enjoy?
  • Edible favors are definitely the best option, so good thinking! My husband and I attended a fall wedding last year where the couple used maple flavored cookies shaped like maple leaves as their favors. Each person received a few in a small mason jar. It was a really cute, and delicious, favor idea.

  • I've always wanted a fall wedding.  I always thought that small jars of honey or caramel/candy apples would be awesome as favors.  You could even set them out as the escort 'card' with a name tag on it.
  • I think a homemade jam would be nice, or some other canned good.  Fall always makes me think of harvest.

You could also do packaged apple cider or caramel apples as everyone mentioned.
  • Fabulous ideas so far ... another to consider would be gingerbread cookies.  You could make/get them in fall shapes (leaves, apples, pumpkins) and put them in mason or jam jars as mentioned above (looooove that idea!), or you package gingerbread-girl-bride and gingerbread-boy-groom cookies into plastic bags tied with ribbons in your wedding colors.

You can make fudge in small plain metal cookie cutters (rather than pouring it into a pan) ... again, you could go with any shape or give each person a decorated fudge "bride" and "groom".  Fudge doesn't have to be chocolate, you could also offer peanut butter, pumpkin or maple fudge.
  • Wow!!! Thank you all for the great ideas. I like that caramel apple idea but then I like the idea of doing something with the mason jars like jam or cookie mix. I've got some time but you all helped a lot.

  • We gave sparkling apple cider for our November wedding.  I waited for a good sale on TK shop and ordered them from there.  The shipping charges were a killer, but the bottles looked nice at each place setting.

  • I'm planning on trying out a recipe I have for homemade jelly candies that I could do in my wedding colors (probably that means blackberry and something like orange, peach, or apricot, depending on what I can find). If the test run goes poorly, I'll do brown butter brown sugar shortbread cookies with sugar crystals around the edges, in cellophane baggies in the colors.
