Evan Godwin Photography

Have any of you ladies used/plan on using him? I found him on craigslist and he got back to me within moments. His prices are the most resonable I have seen, and I've spent the ENTIRE morning looking. Engagement session, wedding coverage, printing rights for $750. Is that too cheap? Since I started looking today, I'm not sure how he stacks up against other photographers. Here is his personal portfolio:

Any help from you ladies would be appreciated!

    Hi there!

I am also using Evan Godwin for my photographer.  I met with 4 other photographers - most of who were scatterbrained and charged way too much money for the quality of their work.  Evan was prompt, reasonably priced, and willing to work on a special package for us.  We are getting married at the Marty Leonard chapel, and he had just shot a wedding there.  He immediately e-mailed us to show us examples of his work.  It was on par with other photographers we had visited.

He is younger and isn't a full-time photographer.  He is still in school, but based on my meetings with him he will be very successful.

Go ahead and shop around - see what other photographers are offering and that way you will have a better basis for comparison.

From what I can see, his work is pretty good, and those are really, really good prices. It makes me wonder why he's so cheap, though.

Heck, just my engagement session and CD with those photos was $450.

But, seeing as how it's your first day looking I would keep shopping around, like PP said. The worst thing you can do is commit to a vendor too soon and keep looking, and then find something better. I see it ALL THE TIME here on this board. Girls keep looking at vendors once they've committed, and find something/someone they like better.

If you look around for a while, and still can't find someone who compares to him, then book him.

One piece of advice I would give you is to meet with him and ask to see a book with a FULL wedding. Not just the highlights. That's really important.

Also, ask how long you get him on the wedding day, and if it will be just him or if he'll be bringing someone else to help with coverage. That's important too. Our photog brought 2 other people with him for wedding day coverage, so we had plenty of people there and they didn't miss a moment. You want more than one person so that someone can be with you and your girls while you're getting ready, and someone can be snapping pictures of details, and getting candids of the guys at the same time.

    Good luck!

Well his portfolio looks great to me and I know that price is amazing! I would still shop around but if you really like him and work well with him he looks like a great find!

I'm using him for my wedding in July! And I bought the package you're talking about.  I've met with him several times and LOVE him.  As PP said, his prices are cheaper because he's a finance student at SMU and does photography on the side.  But, he's done this for about 18 months, and shot many, many weddings (I think he said hundreds, but I can't remember for sure).

I can't speak to the quality of work just yet (our e-pics aren't until March), but based on what I know, I would highly recommend him!

I have a meeting set up with him on Monday, I'll let you ladies know how it goes! He must be busy as he told me he was no longer able to hold dates.

I met with him too and he is VERY professional. We met with 6 photographers in the end, Evan being our first. He never pressured us into booking with him, but we kind of wish he did because when we went back a few weeks after our consultation to book with him he was already taken! I've seen a few of his full weddings and they are very, very good. Even better than most of the $2,000-$3,000 photographers we met with.

We are using him for our photographer.  We met with him and loved him immediately. We made some changes to the package we purchased and he was more than accomodating.

  • Did anyone use Edwin Goodwin as your wedding photographer? Please give me details in regards to if you were satisfied. I know the prices are great but I want to make sure my pictures will come out beautiful! Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of searching for photographers.
  • Yes! Evan shot our wedding last October. He was fantastic! Really easy going and very accomodating to creating a package that we were looking for. Our photos turned out beautifully! He did our engagements and wedding, I had a college friend shoot my bridals. We were very happy with our experience with him and would recommend him any time.
  • Evan Godwin shot our wedding on May 26 in Weston, Texas! He is very talented and such a pleasure to work with! My husband and I have only seen a few of the photographs he took and we can't wait to see the rest! He is affordable and well worth anything extra!
!We give him 10 of 10!

We will be using him for every photography need we have in the future, even though my Husband's best friend is a professional photographer! Evan was just so creative and fun to work with!! I could go on and on!  You will NOT be disappointed at all !!!!!!
