Custom made Terrible Towels

My fiance & I are both steelers fans & the majority of the guest list is from Pittsburgh.  Since we're getting married in the fall, I chose to have burnt orange, brown and ivory as my colors.....so there's gonna be alot of brown an orange (cleveland brown colors!)  We thought it would be a cute/funny idea to have custom "Terrible Towels" made with our names & wedding date on them (in black & gold....of course) to use as favors!  My brother works in a screen printing shop & can get them fairly inexpensivly!  I plan on placing little notes on the tables explaining that with all the brown and orange, we wanted to off set it with a little black & gold!  That way all our guest will have a TT (as well as the bridal party) when we make our enterance!  What do you guys think??

Since I am a big Steelers fan, I love the idea! (I also love my Terrible Towel.) Anyway, I am from Illinois so if I went to a wedding and they handed out something with a Bears theme, I probably wouldn't want anything to do with it.

If you know most of your guests are Steelers fans then go for it.  Just be prepared to have some custom terrible towels left behind.

Maybe instead of handing them out as favors, you could do the towels for the BP and you could all enter with them and then if anyone wants to know where they can buy one you can give them your brother's info.  Just an idea.

hahaha   Sorry tldh....I know not everyone is a Steelers fan, but I hope that they have fun with it!  I feel like if folks don't want to take their favor with them, that's ok :)  There are plenty of Steelers fans who will scoop 'em up!  haha  My sis in law asked my bro (who's making the towels) if he'll make one in orange & brown....luckily, he's a steelers fan!  haha

I love the idea, and as the XGF of a steelers fan, I know your guest would LOVE it.  How were you thinking of placing the towels on the tables?  I think it would be cute if you could fold the towels into an animal or other shape -- like they do on cruise ships.

I haven't got that far, just yet!  I don't think I am talented enough to fold them!  haha   I might have to youtube how to make animal shapes out of towels!  Does anyone have any other idea on how to place them on the table?

How about just folding them with a copy of the Steeler's schedule on top?  Just be sure to highlight the Bengals and Browns games.Wink

I hate the Steelers and I still would think it was a cute favor.  I'm sure most of them will be fans and will love it, the rest will use it as a rag to wash their car, but an extra rag rarely ever goes to waste!

I LOVE the idea of the Steelers schedule!!!  How fun is that?  My fiance said the same thing about "if people don't like them, they'll use them as rags!"  Which I think is just fine!  (he even said if there are left over ones, they'll be great for in the garage!)  So even if someone isn't a Steelers fan, everyone will get a kick out of it!  My mother doesn't even know about this yet...I'm keeping it a surprise for everyone (except my brother & sis in law) who are making them!  YAY!

I'm a HUGE Steeler fan and if it weren't for me being married in TN to a non-pro football, college loving Alabama fan, I'd want to do something like that!  I think it is a great idea especially if you have the majority of the guest list from PA.  If nothing else, just get some candies with your colors and add to it.

We're staying away from the sports theme mostly because the guest list is so diversified.  We have UT, Tennessee Titan, Pittsburgh Steelers and Alabama Crimson Tide fans.  But I did talk with my cake people and they are making his grooms cake a red devil's with white icing and the big A with the elephant.

In New Orleans brides sometimes use personalized handkerchiefs for the second line and a lot of brides use them as favors.  That is taking it a step up.  I love the idea!  That would be a cute twist on it using a Saints themed towel in New Orleans.  And I really love adding the schedule!!  Go for it!!

I'm, also, not a Steelers fan, but I think this idea is AWESOME!  Makes me wish that more teams had such significant/well-known physical symbols of fan-dom!  =]

Me and my FI Had this same idea!! I was thrilled when i saw your post! sounds like you have the perfect guests for it...i dont think it would go over as well for us considering we dont have as many steelers fans around us. Only a few family members would be happy to have them.

It's all coming together, and everyone I share my little secret with about the towels, loves the idea!  I made little cards to place on the table that say:

"Being the true Steelers fans they are, Jenn and Dan would like to off set some of this orange and brown with a little black and gold!  Even if you aren't a Steelers fan, please help us welcome in the Newlyweds by wavin' your '10-10-10 towel'!!!
