Favors

Per Guest or Per Couple

Hello all.  I was looking at possible wedding favors and there is an excellent chocolate shop in my hometown that I was going to get the wedding favors through.  I was going to get small boxes of chocolates, in various fillings/flavors.  However, these are going to be a little more expensive than I originally anticipated.  I was wondering how people usually do their wedding favors.  Do you do them per guest, per couple/family?  I am wondering since I am just doing one place card per family/couple, if I should just do one favor with this placecard when finding their seat or if I should have them set out at the table, every other setting or every setting.  What is the best way to do this to be able to do what I want but be cost effective??  My other option would be to use a cheaper favor from my chocolate shop ( a chocolate covered pretzel in a bag with a ribbon, or a piece of chocolate in the shape of a wedding cake or bridal figurine) and have one favor per guest.  What is your opinion?  What favor would you choose and would you do per guest or per couple?  And if per couple, do every other at the place settings or put them with the placecards?

It sounds like your box of different flavors should be enough for a couple to share.  So, I would put them with the placecard for the couple.  But if they have 3 kids as well, then one box may not be enough for each person to get one piece....depends on how many pieces are in each box and if you are having children at the reception in my opinion.

I'd get the cheaper favor, and do one per guest. If you want, you can give the boxes of chocolates to immediate family (parents, siblings, grandparents) and the bridal party.

Everyone at the wedding should get the same favor.  If you wanted to give parents and the bridal party something different, that could be done at the rehearsal.

I did mini-champagne bottles and I did them one per couple and I put them on the tables.  If the boxes have several chocolates in them (3-4) I think doing one per couple is fine.

Did you talk to them about your budget?  Maybe see if you can get a bulk discount or if you can get a discount for "advertising" but just having a the thankyou tag say the stores name on the back etc?

It's worth a try- good chocolate is worth it!  If you do decide to do per couple- I could make it more cost effective and have them double as place cards.  I wouldnt do every other seat- people might take others leaving some couples chocolate-less...
