Question regarding pumpkins for wedding favors

Our wedding is at the end of October, and even though we are trying to minimize the use of halloween-related decorations, we are currently entertaining the idea of using white pumpkins/gourds as a favor for our guests.  I have been browsing the internet and noticed that several sites comment on the use of mini hand-decorated pumpkins as a nice idea for the guests.  I am just wondering where I would find enough pumpkins for ~250 guests at a reasonable price (if possible).  Please help.  Thanks.

I agree with Lisa a farmer. Alot of farmers up here sell their pumpkins at wholesale prices in huge bins for CHEAP. Unfortunately it's to late for you to start growing them. My FI & I are growing our own pumpkins for the wedding. We grew them last year to know what to expect.

Growing your own is such a cute idea! I'm also planning a fall wedding (2011) and want to use pumpkins in some way.
