Destination Wedding favors

I've read millions of suggestions about what to get your guests as wedding favors when they have to travel and I really like the idea of a welcome bag when they arrive at the resort....However I am scared to death of buying things packing them and then having the airline lose  the bag. Any suggestions?

Ship the stuff via FedEx or UPS to the hotel ahead of time. Could even do regular mail but insure it.
