Candle Favors

My FI and I are having a winter wedding in a gorgeous, rustic lodge. I know edible favors are super popular, but I was wanting to do homemade candles. We would do them in vanilla scent probably and use a few different styles of jars/containers for them.

Just wondering if you ladies would like this as a favor, or if you think something edible is the way to go?

TIA!

Re: Candle Favors

  • Go with something edible.  Most of these candles will probably be left on the tables.

  • I don't burn candles, so no, I wouldn't use this. Also, you'd have to be careful that the jars & containers you use are heat/shatter resistant. This is something I wouldn't be comfortable with even attempting.
  • I don't use candles, so if this were my favor and I remembered to take it with me when I left, it wouldn't be used.

Go with edible, or just skip favors altogether.  They're neither required nor expected.
  • I like candles, so I would take mine.  Agree with PP about being careful with the containers; tins are safer than glass, unless you know the glass is fire-safe.
  • Thanks for the input ladies... I didnt realize so many people disliked candles. Lol.

I love candles, so this would be one of the rare non-edible gifts I would take home.  But I suspect you'd still probably have alot left behind.  I'd go with edible.
  • We did candles as favors in cute little metal pails.  I know edible favors are better, but I just liked this for my beach themed wedding.  I didn't have a lot left over, maybe like 15 out of the 80 guests.  It was fine for me as I like candles so used the leftovers myself.

I'm still sort of leaning towards doing them... we're decorating with tons of candles, and I know that (at least my side of the family) a lot of our guests use them at home. It's just fitting, I think, with our winter lodge wedding..

This is what made me really want to do them.

  • I don't like edible favors. To me they are a waste. I like candles or something you can actually use

As opposed to something you can actually eat?  It's not like you throw a little box of candy into a drawer to be forgotten.
