Marriage license

Yeah!! We got our marriage license in the mail yesterday. Let the name changing commence!

And just a curiosity question....how many of your are changing your name? If so - are you moving your maiden name to your middle name or just dropping it completely? If not are you hyphenating? Do we have any ladies that their man is taking their name??

DH considered taking mine but in the end I changed to his and completely dropped my maiden.

I'm changing my name, dropping off my maiden name completely. I don't really have any sentimental connections to it. In fact, I've never really liked my last name!

    Congrats on getting your license.

I know it's going to cause some confusion, but socially I will take my FI's name but professionally and on all paper work, I will maintain my own.

I'm dropping mine completely. It is also a girl's first name, so it has caused neverending confusion throughout my life, and I just want it to stop!

I made my middle name my maiden name.   Like Soontobe, though, I'm not going to change it professionally at this point.

I changed to his last name.  Though, when it came time to go to the SS office and DMV, I didn't realize how attached I was to my last name.  It was kind of hard, to be honest.  I'm really proud of my maiden name and what it stands for...so I kind of went through a "mourning period"...I know it sounds goofy but I was really sad to change my name.

I'm reluctantly changing mine to FI's.  I'm the next Julia Gulia because mine will rhyme a little.  :(  I hate my last name too, so either way....blah.

I'll be changing to his after the wedding.  I'm going to have to get used to repeating/spelling it out for people. Not that it's long or hard but every time we go out to eat and use his name, they always look puzzled or ask us to repeat it.

I will be changing mine...I think. My last name is unique and very rare. I am also one of only 2 females in the family with the last name so I am attached to it. I will change it, but I may wait until we have children.

I go back and forth. I really want to do my first name + my last name+ his last name. My FI is a little annoyed that I do not want to go completely to his last name. My last name is very distinct and I feel like I shouldn't drop it.  The only reason I would go to his name is so that my name isn't even more ridiciously long.

I'm changing mine, not keeping my maiden name at all.  I've already started practicing signing my name...which is going to be weird because my signature now has evolved to only 4 letters.

I dropped my maiden name completely because it ends with an "s" so it would be weird for a middle name. I sort of got used to it because I dropped it on facebook also. Plus I will be going to a less common name and it is shorter so it doesnt matter.
