DJ Gratuity--Advice!

Ladies!  Had a quick question-- what should be a gratuity for the DJ?  Our contract suggests 20 percent, but since our DJ is a bit more expensive, that is quite a bit of moolah!  What did everybody else do?  Thanks for any tips!

Based on the advice from my event planner, we did 10% which was $150.  I don't believe gratuity was mentioned in our contract.

Hey that's exactly what we're paying for our DJ!  Our contract just says "for exceptional service a gratuity of 20% would be appreciated" (tacky!).  I'm sure he'll be great, but $300 is a crazy tip when you're already getting $1500!

Yeah, I don't like that.  I think $150 is plenty.  Although our DJ was great and he deserved every penny.

My planner suggested 10% for our DJ, which Stephie suggested. I agree that it is tacky even for the suggestion to be included in the contract! 20% seems overkill for a DJ, I think.
