Recipe Cards?

I am trying to find a unique and inexpensive idea for my favors. I came up with recipe cards with my fiances favorite family recipe on one side and then mine on the other. Is this a good idea? Too corny? Too weird? Please give me your advice!

I like the idea but then again I'm a totally foodie/cook. I love to try recipes out. Just remember that some people who aren't cooks may not take the recipe cards, but this can happen with almost any favor.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It might help to add a bit about why those are your favorite recipes: when you first had it, who made it, why you like it, etc.

I love to cook and I love trying out new recipes so it sounds like a great favor to me. The only thing I would suggest doing is before you make up the recipe card, check with the family member who came up with the specific "family recipe" to make sure they are okay with everyone getting a copy of it.

I've been toying with this idea myself.  My wedding gift to couples with whom I am close always includes a binder filled with my recipes and kitchen gear.

I think its a cute idea.  I'm just a little confused I guess as to how you are doing it.  Are you doing several  cards per person?  Just one card per person and they get whatever recipe they end up with?  Or are you doing like a mini recipe book?  Like a PP said, definitely get the approval of anyone that originated the recipe.  I have an old italian family that is very particular about where our recipes go.

I would be making 3x5 cards on colored card stock and every card would have the same two recipes on them. My fiances favorite recipe would be on one side (giving credit to his mom on the bottom as she is the creator) and my favorite recipe on the other (giving credit to my grammy who created it.) Of course I will check with the cooks to make sure it is okay that share their recipes.

    Any other suggestions or advice?

A couple of years ago, there was a bride who was doing a "cookbook" of favorite family recipes.  She had family members send them to her, and then she collated them into a cookbook.  I loved that idea.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

I think that's a nice idea. If it's printed by a computer, it can be done easily and it wont be such a loss if people leave them behind.

But I don't think you need to go as far as attaching a spoon to them though. If you feel like you need to attach, maybe something edible.

If you want to put something with it, definitely do something edible.  Some hershey kisses/other types of chocolate/candy, etc.

LOVE the idea! Maybe put it with a sample of the food in the recipe?
