Hello! My father has graciously cut and sanded 150 wood rounds (they're about 3 inches in diameter and 1/3 inch thick). My fiancé and I plan to write "M+S" and our wedding date on one side and each guest's name and table number on the other side. Each wood round will have a hole drilled through the top and a loop of twine so that they can be hung from a tree at our outdoor reception (and eventually on Christmas trees, if our guests so choose!). These wood rounds will serve as both the escort cards and a small favor. I was wondering if anyone has advice about what type of marker or pen to use to write on wood and if the wood should be sealed before or after writing on it. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Re: Writing on wood rounds
A lot more fun to use, and you won't have to worry about paint drying or ink bleeding.

p.s. I normally would suggest against this idea, but since your dad already made them...
So I'm becoming more mindful of this.
What I do think is that you could write something else on it that would make people like them more. Can you put the initials of your guests on them instead with a heart around them? That would delight me. I would hang that in my house. For single people, you could do something else..
I'm googling what other people do about that right now. Someone wrote "Love is Sweet", some people burn a heart into them. Others are rubber stamping them. Some, it looks like they may have been rubber stamped and then burned or perhaps were done professionally with a laser..
I would do it with a wood burning tool for sure. You can get them from Michaels or a craft store, use a 50% or 40% off coupon!
You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
I'm really liking this idea, I might steal it somehow.
Here's a LINK to what someone did with leaves and paint on the slices
This LINK shows someone who put the chalkboard paint on it. In this case, you could put your own initials on it and someone could wipe it and use it for notes or for their own after
This LINK is an example of a design someone did
These LINKED here seem to be rubber stamped

What great ideas! Thank you so much for the links. I'm now considering putting each guests's name and table number on one side with a quote or leaves (to match the leaves on our invites) along with our wedding date on the other side. Thanks again!
