candy bar - favor

Has anyone had a candy bar?  I'd like the take-away candy to be our wedding favors.
I'd appreciate your recommendations as to whether I should order candy online or buy from a story.  Also, what did you use for containers?  I just ordered these, but they are ridiculously too small.  http://www.target.com/p/white-heart-window-favor-boxes-25ct/-/A-13565911#prodSlot=medium_1_4&term=favor+boxes

Please help!  Any advice appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Are you having children attend?  A kid puked at my friend's reception after eating too much candy (probably also too much of other things as well, not sure if it was the candy's fault).  She used something like this:

If you end up not doing the bar, the little boxes you bought would be cute with M&Ms in them.

  • Valouche, you sound like a vendor.  If you are, please read the terms of service for the Knot boards.

OP, I haven't done a candy bar, but check Oriental Trading company for small containers -- boxes, bags, little buckets.  They sell a LOT of candy, too; esp. if you are doing a seasonal wedding (around the holidays, summer, fall, Valentine's, etc.).  I work as a church secretary, and the children's ministry coordinator is always getting catalogs from them.
  • I bought little white paper sacks from Michaels. They come in several different sizes. Then I just stamped a little saying on it.

We bought all of our candy at stores, but we didn't do a color coordinated bar or anything. I found Sams Club to have great prices.

  • I got all our candy at BJs.  I got chinese take out containers from www.papermart.com.
  • I bought my mini pails from theknot.com and am thinking of ordering candy from oriental trading.  For my candy containers, I went to TJ Maxx and purchased some fun glass containers.  If you're having kids at your wedding... you may want to go with glass, or short/ thick glass containers.
