Neither my FI or my mother approve of having favors at our wedding. They both think they are tacky and a waste of time and money. So I guess I'm not having any.

We decided against favors after I helped a very good friend with her wedding. We spent hours making S'more favors (2 graham crackers, a marshmallow, a chocolate bar & a packaged handiwipe in a cute clear celophane bag with ribbon & a thank you note) for her outdoor wedding only to see most of them left in the basket, on tables, on the ground. It was heartbreaking because we worked so hard & my friend had such a small budget, we hated to see anything go to waste.
Bottom line, guests will say "Oh how cute!" And the promptly forget about them as they focus on the reception cocktails, dancing, cake & conversation.
We weren't going to do favors but then Fl wanted to do favors/place cards
so i went to hobby lobby and bought 9inch round cut out tulle ( 25 per pack at $2.99 per pack)
Then went to Party City and bought a bag of mixed sweet tarts ($9.99 for a 2.5 lb bag) and put them in the cut tulle and tied them shut with ribbon and printed out place cards and tied them on to the tulle as well..
I made 74 favors out of the bag of candy and tulle ( would have been 75 if they added two more pices of candy). Each favor got 2 pieces of candy. they fit perfect

Re: Favors or no favors?
Favors are never required. They are a cute thing to do if you have the time and budget for them but they are not necessary.
