Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Venue ideas?

Just got engaged a week ago, and have been looking at a couple of venues (via internet) There are a couple that I love out in Azle ("The Orchard" and "A and M Gardens") Love the aspect of outdoor wedding, then inside for reception.
This week fiance and I have been working on the guest list, looks like we will be only having a maximum of 75 people or so... Was wondering if anyone knew if these locations would be too big for a smaller crowd, or if any other suggestions for a venue.  Thank you :)

Re: Venue ideas?

  • I don't think that A&M Gardens would be bad with 75. I mean, you would definitely have room for more but I don't think you would be overwhelmed with the size.

Other outdoor venues that have an indoor reception option:
The Botanical Gardens, specifically the Japanese Gardens (Fort Worth)
    The Dallas Arboretum
    Trinity River Audubon Center
Rose Chapel (Where I'm getting married - I think it would be perfect for your size. We're definitely pushing the limit with our size.)

    Anniversary
  • There's also the Parson's Table in Aledo that would be nice for that guest size I think.  I love the A&M Gardens too!  I think it holds 150 so I think you could get away with that.  The Orchard's website says it can accommodate 400 so not sure about that one.
  • Also I can add artspace 111 in Fort Worth, Los Vaqueros in Fort Worth (where I'm getting married, though we're hoping to be outdoors the whole time) and River Legacy in Arlington as options for indoor/outdoor. I don't think large venues would be bad even if you don't have the people to fill the space, that just leaves more room for dancing and mingling!

Went to a wedding at Rose Chapel, it was beautiful. Artspace 111 was one of my favorites for mine, but I'm doing it at Los Vaqueros like Karulyne. You also want to make sure you consider your budget and if you want to be able to bring in outside catering and alcohol or not.

Also, congrats!! Do you know when you're looking to get married yet?
  • Filter Building at White Rock Lake would be nice.

Also, one knottie got married at Avanti Fountain Place downtown and it was just beautiful.

  • I thought about mentioning the Filter Building (my venue!), but its capacity is listed at 200, probably 175 is closer to accurate. We are having 150 plus a band and dance floor. I feel like we are pushing it.
  • A&M Gardens would be just fine for 75 people.  Just please, please do not have your wedding at these outdoor places in the summer.  Your guests will thank you if you opt for another time of year.

I'll be looking into them! :)  Yes, we have a budget that we will be keeping to. And We have already began to discuss maybe to do a more personalized meal (rather than your average wedding...)- do food that he and I really enjoy, items that we have enjoyed cooking, nothing major, just some different things.
We are aiming for next spring, possibly Mid May... but we will have to see. :)

Great! thank you!I think we may go take a peek at a&m :) thank you! No, definitely not the summer, have been thinking about mid-May - but not sure yet.  i know its warmer - but not like it is now, in June./july... I dont want to be standing up there sweating like a little pig... that would not be attractive on my wedding day. haha! Thats my whole thing, want it to be nice, but comfortable. :)
  • Let us know what you decide!  The venue is always the hardest part!

I hope it's the hardest, if every decision that needs to be made is this difficult, then no wonder some girls turn into 'bridezillas.' haha. :) nah, I fee that once we get that down, everything else will fall into place, well I hope so at least.  But I'll keep you informed. :) Thanks again!
  • We are getting married at The Belltower Chapel & Gardens in Fort Worth. It is an ols restore chapel that was donated to a childrens's charity(ACH children and family services) Tons of stained glass and a really nic outdoor space. www.belltowerfortworth.com
  • wanted to let you guys know that we decided on a location - a 'sister church' to my church - its a little country church out in Millsap (between weatherford and mineral wells) - Called Newberry Cumberland Presbyterian Church. .... NO, nothing fancy- but really feel like we can do so much with it (decorating it, to make it  our own, instead of just the 'same  ol' mold like what the wedding places have)  plus it has that special connection - the sister church to mine - this is a church that I've gone out to visit at over the years,   I had forgotten about Newberry as a wedding site- I love it out there. really awesome. I really cant wait. we do still have to lock in a specific date and all the rest of the stuff.
Thank you all for your help though. I truly do appreciate it.
