Food favor question...

I have pretty much decided on giving my guests beignets and to-go cups of cafe au lait as our favors. Here's my dilemma: you have to serve beignets warm or the don't taste as good. How can I keep them warm until the end of my reception? I want them to be pre-boxed so nobody will have to be boxing them up all night long, my guests can just grab them on their way out. Is this a bad idea? Should I just ask my caterer to box them as my guests leave? Or have one of my guests do it? I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for the advice!

Definitely don't have one of your guests do it. They wouldn't be able to enjoy the end of the wedding if they had to box up favors.

Have you asked your caterer if they could box them up towards the end of the night? Maybe keep a few boxed early in case some people start leaving early? That seems like the best option to me.

I talked to my caterer and they won't do it. They come with the hotel we're having our wedding at and they're being stingy, not wanting to work past what they have to do. So that's out of the question. I'm really thinking about just 86ing the beignets, but I want to do something New Orleans related. Another thought I had was to make cookies in the shape of a fleur de lis and put them in favor boxes and that way they won't have to be warm. They would go great with the coffee already being served at the end of the night. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!

I just got married in New Orleans in MArch and I gave out small jars of jelly made by a company called Spoonfull of Jelly  http://www.spoonfullofjelly.com
They matched my wedding colors and shipped them to my venue. Everyone thought the favor was a very southern touch and a pretty fleur de lis was under the lace with our wedding thank you message. Check them out, they should be able to help you.

How about pecan pralines? We have an annual Mardi Gras party and always serve those. You could make them ahead of time or order them pre-made. Yummy!
