This inplace of favors and place cards?

So I found this on Pinterest:

And I thought maybe do that on lowball glasses (I like the little jars but I don't think it'll fit well with our colors/semi-formal theme) and use it instead of place cards?

Maybe on the back lower part of the glass and in a smaller plain jane font write our names and the date (like a traditional wedding favor).

Maybe we could fill it with something, or just a single orchid blossom so it wouldn't take away from the simplicity of the glass itself?

With the idea that they could be used for water at the reception, the waiters would be told this (haha no one would wonder whos glass was whos!) Then our guests could take them home as favors!

Thoughts on this?

Re: This inplace of favors and place cards?

  • The only thing is that then they'd be taking home wet/used glasses if they were using them for water. If someone didn't finish their drink, they'd have to go dump it out and wipe it out.

Also, as far as favors go, I wouldn't personally care for a glass that didn't match the rest of my glassware that had my name and your wedding date on it. I think if you want to do something like this in place of escort cards that'd be OK, but I wouldn't expect people to take these home for favors. I think a lot (or most) of your guests will leave them at the reception.

  • Also, writing that in looks like a royal pain.  It took me maybe fifteen minutes to write on our place cards.   I would probably find a different favor.
  • I don't care for knick knack favors, let alone ones that are personalized with the bride and groom's info.  At the very least, I'd omit your info.

Ditto summerbride.  I have no use for a single glass with my name and your wedding date on it.
