Favors with Roots??? Help!

So my fiance's last name means "roots" when it is translated.  So we would like to have wedding favors that have roots on it... or in it?  I think the easiest would be a plant or something but I'm not really into flowers :-\
If you have any ideas PLLEEAASSEEE share!

I'm not really into plants, either, so as a guest I wouldn't take one as a favor.  Are people even going to know his name means "roots"?

Yes, its just in spanish - Raices. Most of our guest either only speak Spanish or are bilingual.

I know someone who used www.PremierButterflyEvents.com for their favors. And they had a small piece of an evergreen tree in a nice burlap small bag. Each bag had rocks in it that help moisture. Around each bag was a custom favor tag.
Not sure if that goes with your wedding decor, but that is an option with the whole roots idea.

Have you looked into the paper that is embedded with seeds for people to plant?

I like these seed shots, seeds in cute clay formed shapes. You throw them on the ground and they dissolve in the rain to release the seeds.
