Am I nieve?

Maybe I'm being totally nieve but why doesn't anyone post thier names on here?  I have seen people not want to link to the Facebook page (which I just requested memebership of) and not want to show pics or cakes or whatnot because the vender put their name on it.

Am I way too trusting?

You're not way too trusting.  Don't worry, we don't normally have any problems with our local girls.

The reason that we caution you to share personal information is because anyone can access these boards.    And since there's no way to monitor who lurks (or even who posts really, but I do try to keep things as safe as possible), we just ask that you're very careful about the personal information that you post.  You just never really know.

I'm naiive and definitely too trusting, also! I don't think it's a big deal if people know my name, I mean my facebook is private and there are thousands of people with my name. It sometimes annoys me when people are too guarded with personal info. I understand not wanting to give out phone numbers and addresses but some people need to chill! It was really annoying when I worked at Academy about 5 years ago and we had to ask for zip codes before we rang something up and people would FLIP OUT. It is asked to get info. about customers locations so they know areas that would be good to build new stores. People acted like I was going to stalk them or something. I just wanted to tell them, "It's a zip code- chill outttttt!"

Anyways, I probably am too trusting but stuff like that is just not really a big deal to me! I'm pretty sure most people disagree but to each his own!

They tell you not to put your name & vendor info because some people have canceled other girls' wedding vendors out of spite. I don't think it's silly to guard your information, you put a lot of time, money and effort into your wedding and I would want to protect it very much.
I have also been reading about identity theft which could also happen and it can ruin lives. They can ruin your credit & make it almost impossible to get loans for a house or car. I've heard they can steal your identity with just your address (at least that what all my family says when they see me putting my junk mail in the trash without shredding it) so I would be very careful. It's not something to be carefree about.

<div>I heard this too.  I also heard some random story where a knottie (or nestie) was mad at another, so they figured out where they worked and informed their boss that they were on the Knot during work hours and the girl got fired.</div><div>
</div><div>Do I think that someone on here is going to go through all of that to ruin my wedding, no but it's always better to be safe than sorry.</div>

I've heard both stories as well. On different boards. I think it's good to be at least a little cautious. I am an easy google search so I try to watch what I put on here. I probably have already added too much but I've always been a little too trusting.

I had a stalker before. Worst expierence of my life. It altered everything about my life. My life wouldn't have turned out any where near the way it had if I hadn't had to deal with that.

LOL Brooke Anne I was probably one of those people who freaked out about the zip. I don't want anyone to know anything about me in regards to location.

I'm just really guarded when it comes to things like that.

Wow - stalkers and cancelling vendors?  Maybe I will take my picture down now.....

That's sad if girls would come on here, get in a fight, and mess up the other's wedding vendors. Can we mature up a little bit please?!

Brooke-I totally know where you're coming from! We gotta ask for phone numbers and names for cupons. People really do attack me. Most retail stores now will want some type of info.

I've been on the boards for a while so I've seen vendors cancelled, people fired, bosses called, you name it. There's always one bad egg in the bunch and it's so sad.

Hopefully we have no "bad eggs" around here.

i've never had a problem, but i've got a friend who worked for the john edwards campaign and got national attention on her blog a few years back and one of the conservative talk show hosts gave her name and address out on national television. she got death threats and people showing up to her HOUSE and her and her husband's work. i've never done anything that would garner that kind of attention, but it certainly made me a lot more wary of connecting my real name with my online identity.
