Is a "candy bar" more or less expesive than getting favors for the guests? I've even thought about making my own faors but I would like to know what is more inexpensive. If anyone has any thoughts and/or experience!
Candy bars are not necessarily cheap. You have to buy: the candy, the containers, the takeout bags or boxes, scoops, and any decor. Candy online is around $3-$5 per pound. Mine was around $400.
I also did champagne bottles at every place setting and those were only around $200.
We might do both. Since we're making our favours (homemade toffee), they'll definitely be cheaper than the candy bar - and that's with being able to reuse my sister's jars!

I think generally a candy bar is more expensive than traditional favors. However, if you shop around and perhaps find a bride selling the candy jars you need and you can get a good deal, then I think you can swing it for just about teh same price as regular favors. (Depending of course what kind of favor you compare it to -obviously some are more expensive than others)
It totally depends on the favor you give. Our photo strip frames were only $.75 each, but if you consider the photo strips the favor too then I'd have to factor the cost of the photo booth in. Which would end being $4.50 for the booth and frame per guest. But there are many favors that are cheaper, and some people choose to do one favor per couple.
Candy bars can get very expensive depending on what you need. If you have to buy all the bowls for it and the scoops that all adds up. Plus the candy itself. My friend did a candy bar but since her colors were red and black she bought all of her candy on clearance after Valentines day. She borrowed a lot of her dishes and bowls.
Nobody can really tell you whats cheaper, since it depends on the favor you choose, and how much you would need for a candy bar.
