Is candy a cheesy wedding favor?

My reception has an ol school theme so I thought about doing favors that are ol school candies like: sugar babies, pop rocks, candy necklace, lemon heads, etc. 

I wanted something budget friendly but also I thought this would be a good conversation starter.  Do you think this is a good idea or just cheesy?

Candy is generally the safest and most well received favor you can do!  We're doing chocolates, along with a couple of other things.

We had Ring Pops and Pop Rocks at our engagement party.  Who doesn't love Pop Rocks?!
