Unique favors that won't get thrown in the junk drawer?

Hi there!

My fiance and I are looking for unique favor ideas - no candies, no candles, no picture frames or cookie cutters or flower seeds. We want something our guests haven't seen before. But also, we don't have the time or energy to be crafty and make stuff. And of course, with 200 guests, we're trying to keep the cost to a minimum.

The wedding will be outdoors, no real theme. I'd like something the guets can keep, possibly use, that will remind them of our day. But something that won't end up in their junk drawer (the way so many of the favors from my friends' weddings have ended up). We were going to burn cd's of our fav love songs, but the cost effective way is too time consuming. The fast way of hiring someone else to burn them is too expensive.

So... ideas?

I was thinking about doing donating to charity instead and giving them a list of choices of charities i chose. What do you think of that?

Honestly, the only favors that haven't ended up in a junk drawer or the trash has been edible favors.

I went to a "green" wedding (local, sustainable food was served, outdoors, recycled paper program fans, rocks for placecards, centerpieces were potted herb plants). Their favors were reuseable grocery bags. We still have and use ours.

I think you could maybe go the edible route. I've seen other people suggest jams, trail mix, chocolates, truffles, that kind of thing.

And please don't do donations instead of favors. You're taking away something that's meant for your guests and giving to a charity close to your heart, so it's not much of a gift.

aside from the edibles and drinkables(small bottles of wine) the only favor that i still use was a pizza cutter....i think the knot shop actually has some similiar...but that would probably be pricey

My favorite so far has been a shot glass. I had gotten it as a bridal shower favor n then recommended it to my friend for her wedding. I have seen it has being used as a votive candle holder as well. The website is discount mugs.com

We're giving each guest two scratch off lotto tickets and a 2012 penny. Its not something they can keep forever but I think its something different and who knows, maybe someone will win big!!

I LOVE this idea! It is something that will always be used. I would love to get this as a favor at any party. If I went this route I would try and make the design on it simple on neutral so it can be used. At www.uline.com they have cheap but nice quality bags that you can have a design put on it.

My cousin had shot glasses with their names and the date on it. She had a shot instead of a wedding toast. It was nice and different. I stil have my shot glass!

I've gotten wine bottle stoppers at 2 different weddings and use them all the time...not sure if you or your guests drink wine, but its been my favorite favor thus far...

We are doing a photobooth. I don't have to assemble anything and the guests get pictures of themselves as a favor.

It's okay to skip the favors since you mentioned tight budget and tight on time.

Ok, I really like the reusable grocery bag idea! Although, I'm doing tote bags for my bridesmaids, if I can find some reusable bags that we can customize as a decent price... i do know 2 people with t-shirt companies, maybe i can hire them as a "frien-dor" with a discount lol

The shot glasses, wine bottle stoppers, and pizza cutters are great ideas, too!

I refuse to do anything edible because I go to a lot of weddings, and always end up with most of my table's edible favors because no one eats them or takes them home. I personally feel edible favors are a big waste of money. But I do appreciate the suggestions!

The lotto tickets with 2012 pennies are a cute idea, too!
