i'm getting married at a winery inn and i want to keep my favors at max $2 a person including ribbon, box, etc. the favors that their wine store were at least $4-8 each. ek.
so the 2 ideas i'm thinking of are either give everyone one chocolate from laura secord (canadian chocolate company) like this. i would wrap a white ribbon around the box and maybe put a little personalized label. this is an easy favor but kinda generic:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/45572234/paint-my-love-bird-gift-box-set-of-10i guess my concern about the cookies is that i would have to bake 10 dozen of them which is a lot but i suppose i could freeze them so i don't have to do a crazy baking spree at the last minute. but as well how do cookies hold up in a paper box? i'm concerned maybe the butter/oil in the cookies would absorb into the box. so i thought maybe i would need to wrap them in wax paper or something too. even though it's more work i like the idea of baking cookies because it's more personal as opposed to generic chocolates.
have any of you ladies baked cookies for favors? any tips? or should i just give chocolates instead because it's a less effort favor?
Re: cookies or chocolate
#1. some people are funny about homemade things... meaning: you'd do all that hardwork and they wouldnt even eat them
#2. It's not a popular cookie flavor which might turn people off from it.
Stick with store bought.. chances are you wont be too upset if people forget them or whatnot as opposed to cookies that you took time out to make.
Instead, we gave everyone pretzel rods dipped in chocolate as favors. We did white chocolate rolled in crushed oreos and milk chocolate rolled in chocolate sprinkles. They were easy to make and inexpensive. There wasn't a single one left after the reception so I guess they went over pretty well.
[QUOTE]I'd also vote for chocolate. I thought about having a cookie bar at our wedding, but then I decided it would take way too much time and effort to make all of those cookies.
