Haha - I was lurking on the etiquette board yesterday and saw this.  Then I spent like an hour tracking all her other posts to try to figure out if she was real or not.  Yeah, I promise I do work - sometimes.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />

Oh yes, completely real! WHY would you make all this up and say that you got engaged at Red Lobster? If I were making it up, I would have at least come up with a better restaurant, dated my FI for more than 6 months, and not say that your FMIL cried unhappy tears when she heard the news. Yikes!

Even thinking of having her reception there - while wearing a $10k dress from Kleinfeld's - which is why I think some are questioning if she's real or just an AE.

I started to do my standard HM registry answer in the one thread.  But I deleted it when I saw she was 18.  Do I think it's OK to do a HM registry when you're 40 and have everything?  Yep.  I do.

18 and got engaged at Red Lobster?  I don't think so.

I agree! I am paying for my HM 100%...my registry is so people can give me money to spend on excursions, shopping, etc. (but even if I got $0...I could afford to do all of those things myself)

A HM registry (IMO) isn't tacky as long as you are not depending on it to fund any part of your HM

I think it's hilarious so many boards are talking about this girl. Honestly, she'll probably call it off before it even gets close.

Ok I have to say my older sis and BIL got married at 18 & 20 and they are just about to celebrate their 18th anniversary but they are a very rare couple.  I don't think getting married at 18 is a good idea ever!  No one knows who they are at 18.  They haven't experienced life or lived on their own.  The girl (greenturtle something or other) sound more and more like she just wants to get married to say she got married.  Unfortuanetly if she is real (and I think she is too) we all know how she will end up.  Another statistic.  I'm glad someone posted those links because it has kept me very entertained for a good hour or so now!!

The only flame I have this week is NWR, non TK related but has really had me mad for a few days.

On the days we have my step daughter so goes to daycare after school.  I go to pick her up Tuesday and she is COVERED head to toe in "body paint".  I asked the teacher why they didn't clean it off and they told me they ran out of soap but it should wash right off.  Ok fine I was tired and didn't feel like arguing at the time.  We go home and I put her straight in the bath and spend the next HOUR trying to scrub this stuff off.  I look online for ideas and NOTHING is working.  Poor girl has pink and purple paint everywhere.

I use to work in a daycare and the paint we used wiped off with a wet wipe.  I tried baby oil, EVOO, mayonaise, goo-gone, finger nail polish remover, etc.  It had stained her skin pink.  Well I had DH call yesterday and ask what they used and they said it was a waterbased paint and they she had refused to wash it off.  Well why would the teacher tell me there was no soap and then suddenly say she refused when asked by the director.  She is still pink tinted but it has faded some.  I'm just mad that they school would even try to get it off and then say that she refused.  Now I can totally see her saying no but even if she had tried it wouldn't have come off.

I'm going up there today to pick her up and I'm debating whether to say anything.  I do know I'm looking for a new school for her to go to now.  Luckily we are only doing a month-to-month thing there so we just have to give a 2 week notice we won't be using them anymore.

Ben's mom got married to Ben's dad when she was 18 and they've been married over 40 years.

But I still don't think it's a good idea and never will.

Oh wow i just saw that post by greenturtlelove.  On her profile she said they have been dating for 6 months.  So no only is it bad that she is 18 but she has barely been dating the guy.

    Yep I see another statistic

I actually work at Red Lobster so I eat them every day....I am addicted and having them in front of you is not good!

I've had a table get engaged while I was waiting on them.  Idk why people think it's a romantic place....a couple months ago we actually did have a reception in our back room.  The bride was a total bridezilla and threw a fit when the managers wouldn't let her come that morning to decorate.  (We don't do reservations and they didn't pay any extra to use that room so if a large party came in before them we were going to have to use that room.)

Growing up in Oklahoma this WAS our fancy night out. Sad but true. Every time I go home (or visit my dad who now lives in Houston) my family still pushes the "let's go to Red Lobster for Christmas Eve" thing. I keep trying to convince myself that it's just a sick inside joke at this point but I really think we are that WT.
