Recipe Favour

Hey there,

FI and I are thinking of having a box with a couple recipes and a pear.  The recipes would be for pumpkin pie (what I made for him to catch his attention and let him know that I liked him) and poached pears (my fav. dessert, also the pears would be that soft green colour, which is one of our wedding colours).  The alternative is a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association (both families have a long history of diabetes) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (his father died of a heart attack).

Any thoughts?  Also, if you like the idea, how would you recommend we package them?

Thanks!

The recipes are fine.  Do not do charity "favors" because these are not favors at all.  It is you taking money from your wedding budget and donating it.  If you want to do this, then take it out of a part of the budget that affects you, not your guests (eg. flowers, gifts to eachother, jewelry, etc.)

I like the recipe idea with the pears in the box over the charity donations. Charities can be good, but my experience with the MS Society of Canada (my mother and aunt have MS) has been disappointing. If I were to make a charity donation, I would purchase as much dog and cat food I could with the money alloted and donate it to the SPCA or another animal shelter (preferably a no-kill shelter). Instead I'm making saskatoon jam with my godfather after picking the berries with my FH.
