Gift for Bridesmaid from out of the country?

One of my gals is actually living in New Zealand now, so I'm not sure what to get her since she'll have to take it back on the plane with her? So I'm trying to stay away from big things, alcohol, food, anything that might give her difficulty at the airport and since she's not living in the area anymore I can't do something like tickets or a spa package.  Anyone have any idea or thoughts? Maybe if I got her something she couldn't take on the plane I could ship it to her home in NZ?

Do you know her taste in jewelry?  As long as you don't expect her to wear it at the wedding, it's a fine gift and easy to transport (she could always wear it home).

I agree! Jewelry is always a great choice for a bridesmaids gift. I'm getting my girls all a ring from Swarovski, and putting in a personalized jewelry box with their name and the date of my wedding. That way every time they wear the ring they think of me and my wedding : plus Swarovski jewelry looks elegant and are pretty afordable!

I always think jewelry is iffy for a BM gift, even if it isn't meant to be worn at the wedding. It's so dependent upon personal taste/preference. Since I don't know your friend, it's difficult to give you suggestions, but I do think it would be fine to ship something to her residence if you can't think of a small, appropriate item. At the wedding, I would give her a beautiful handwritten explaining what you chose to do.
