Favors

pencil favors

Hi Ladies,
I am a teacher and my fi is an engineer (lots of math) so we thought it'd be fun to do personalized pencils for our favors. The pencils will just have our names and the date on them and then we'd like to attach a small note card that has a thank you message. I know it's typical for the attachement to just have the bride and grooms names but we'd like to have something either refereing to our careers and thus the pencils or just some other cute poem. Any ideas, we're having writers block!
Thanks

So....a pencil with someone else's name is my gift?  The idea is cute and I get why you would go with pencils, but I would go with something else engraved on them.

Normally I would agree about not putting your name on the favors but I think pencils / pens are ok. All my pens have the names of businesses on them. I think it is a cute idea and fits you guys.

Hmmm...not sure what to write. Something about our history / story starting to be written? I don't think there is anything wrong with just saying "Thank You".

I love the pencil idea and I am also a teacher.. I think it will show that we put ourselves into the wedding.. :) I am debating if it might seem cheap of me.. I dunno I love the idea though!
  • Hello :) So what did you end up doing? My fiancé and I are both teachers, so I ordered pencils, that are the color of our wedding, with our names and the date on them. I was debating adding a small jellybean treat to it or embellishing them somehow (ribbon or flower attached)-but I am on a budget as well.  I got a little worried because the first response made them implication that they were tacky or cheap.  I thought it was cute.  I'm glad someone else was thinking like me. :)

The OP's last response anywhere on The Knot was 2 years ago. I doubt you'll get a response from her.

ETA: I would not want a favor with someone else's name and wedding date on it normally, but pens/pencils might be ok. After all, I use pens from businesses all the time.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
