Flowers

real or silk? what do you think?

I am having an outdoor wedding in April.I am debating using real vs. silk flowers.Which would be cheaper? And easiest? I like the fact that you can get silk flowers that look extremely real, and can just simply pick your own and assemble as needed(and keep for years to come). On another note,I LOVE fresh cut flowers!! The fragrance, the beauty of them, etc.I guess it depends on what we want basically...Id love to go ahead with the real fresh flowers, but need to know is it ok money wise? Let me know, especially brides that have already been married =) thanks!

Silk all the way...but get the nice kind from hobby lobby. usually about $1.50 or less per stem, and if you wait for their sale, they'll be half price! they look real, and will last much longer if you're having an outside wedding!

Real...always real.  I have never seen a silk flower that I have mistaken for a fresh flower.

you can decorate with silk flowers anytime... but you only get married once... for God's sake do real flowers!

I would rather see you carry 10 fresh real God created tulips than a full on cascade of fake chinese stuff...

    but that's just me...

i'm not a fan of the fake flower look. my friend did all fake for her wedding.....she ended up spending just about as much as i did on all real flowers.....kinda crazy, but once again, just my opinion!

I think that looking at costs/benefits, fresh are the way to go. Fresh flowers can be purchased in bulk for quite a bit less than $1 each depending on which kind you get (like roses or carnations). That is already cheaper than fake unless you shop a seasonal clearance sale.

Fresh flowers always look better in pictures. The fake ones that are supposed to look/feel real are very expensive. Plus, you can always preserve your bouquet if you want.

For both you will have to take time to put them together, the same amount of time. The only difference with the fake is that you can do it in pieces. I'd rather spend the day before my wedding doing the flowers with my BMs than something else, personally.

Myself personally, don't like fake flowers - they take up space, you have to worry about selling them or storing them, they collect dust. Just a headache for me.

I'd much much rather carry a very small bouqet of whatever, even loosely tied with ribbon works, than have to deal with a cascade of silk flowers.

You are having an outdoor wedding, go for real.  Cost wise, there are on line wholesale floral suppliers such as Bunches Direct, who great deals for the do it yourself bride.  Bunches Bob, floral designer
