Flowers in Bouquet & Centerpiece Help

I am going to DIY my flowers due to budget contratints.  I really want roses for my bouquets and think I am going to go monochromatic with one type of rose, which I can buy in bulk online.  I don't think I can afford to have roses on the reception tables as well though.  Will it look bad if the bouquets are roses and the centerpieces are strictly carnations?  Or should I make sure to have the same flowers in the bouquets are are in the centerpieces? Or option C - am I totally overthinking this and should relax with a nice glass of merlot and forget about it?

Thanks for the input.

How many centerpieces will you be needing and how much in bulk do you mean by "in bulk"? I ask because often when you buy in bulk, you end up with one or two hundred flowers at a time. Would that be enough to do you bouquets and leave some for your centerpieces?

FWIW, I don't think that carnations only will look terrible. People are not going to be inspecting things that much and wont get in a tizzy if the flowers you carried during the ceremony don't match what's on your table. If you don't have the budget for extra roses, then don't sweat it.

Thanks for the advice.  I think I am just totally over analyzing things.  I can't even remmeber the centerpieces at any of the weddings I've been to, so I am sure it is only me that will notice. Thanks again!

I don't think it will look bad. However, since I am also on a budget we are actually going to get our flowers from Pike Place market. If you buy in season flowers direct from a farmer at a farmer's market you can usually get a good deal.
We are getting our centerpieces at about 10-15 a table it is really cheap and looks beautiful. Maybe check out your farmer's market to see if you can do this as well?

What about no flowers at the reception? That's what I'm doing. I hate flowers, not a flower person at all. We're using candles and rose petals on the tables and we'll be using the floral decor from the ceremony for the bar and other areas of the reception. I don't think anyone NEEDS to have flowers at the reception. I've also learned along this whole wedding planning thing - so long as you and FI like it, no one else really matters. And honestly, who is going to sit down and realy think "wow, she had roses in her bouquet but carnations on the tables??"  - NO ONE! I promise! I'm totally neurotic about everything and have had near anxiety attacks over these things and am now coming to the realization that I'm the only one who is probably going to notice half this stuff. It's your wedding, it's therefore, automatically going to be perfect no matter what :)
