I'm starting my 30 days of thankful early this year.  I really need to get a better attitude, and this helped me so much during last year's Thanksgiving time.

Hello RAIN!!  Finally you made it to DFW - it is so good to see you.  I hope you start back up and rain, rain, rain some more.  You have brought some much needed relief from triple digit heat.  Smile

Seujoanne, what is this 30 days of thankful?  I mean it's fairly obvious, but please explain anyway.  I think I could use this in my life :)

I am tossing the idea of a complete career change around in my head these days... I am a tax accountant, and before college I wanted to teach but decided not to (mainly because of the money) and now I'm considering making the switch.  Or at least looking into what it takes to make the switch.  I am miserable and overworked in my current job, and this is my second place to work in two years, and it's just more of the same.  I have only told two people so far, so it's nice to be able to tell someone else (aka you guys) too.

Angie - what do you want to teach?  I took the courses needed to get a teachers certification in one year between undergrad and grad school.  Well, technically two regular semesters and two summer sessions - and that includes student teaching.

I wish our copy lady would come back stat from her knee problems.  The person that they put in there is incompetent and lazy.  I know that she is doing a favor for us but she turned my 64 copies of a double sided worksheet into 128 single copies.  And she won't even put holes in any of this!!!!  And yes, we put instructions on our copy requests so that we can ask for front/back, staples, hole punches, etc.

I find myself getting mad at the drop of the hat right now and find myself annoyed very easily at people I love.

Angie - I feel the same way.   I've had good luck looking into different opportunities, but it just feels like more of the same.

On another note, Yoplait Light Strawberry White Chocolate yogurt is really, really yummy.

I forgot my lip balm today dangit.

Yes, if you plan to go to college and take classes, you kind of need to pay for it.

I had to go shopping for work clothes yesterday.  I hate shopping.  Big boobs are a curse sometimes.

    I need a nap.

I'm happy I get to wear my leggings today!!

I'm also stuck! I dunno what to do!!! :( When I moved back here last year I just got a job just to have a job. I didn't want it. I've been there a little over a year and I'm just flat out burnt out with retail. I want to look for another job but three things are holding me back. 1-economy 2-history...I've been a manager for a little over a year my last job I was there not even a year cus I moved back when my lease was up and then the job before that was a little over a year at Market Street when I finished college. Being a business major...I don't think employers will like this. :( 3-my mom is scared for the both of us (FI and myself-he needs one more than I do cus the one he's at now treats the managers like poo) she's scared that we won't get time off for our wedding/honeymoon if we get a job soon. (some companies you do have to wait at least a year before vaca). That one is least of my worries though. I've been at the job I'm at now for a total of like 5 years all together (I worked at the store before here in dfw...transfered and quit due to lack of hours). I'm tired of retail...I'm tired of working late one night and opening the next morning....I'm tired of weekends...I'm just tired! Plus they changed the dresscode so we're going to have to constantly buy clothes which I don't want to do cus Christmas is comming up and I want to save for the wedding too.  Both of us are underpaid...his hours are the worst but my FI degree is a hard one....he can't get a job here with it cus he has to start in smaller markets (he's a broadcast journalism major=tv radio. He has to start out small like in Lubbock/Abaline/Amarillo/College Station.
    grrrrr....

I'm done venting-sorry I had to get that out.

Since Stephie was asking for a honeymoon recap, I'll post it here.  :)

We stayed in Kapalua, at a private villa that was about 50 ft from cliffs overlooking the ocean.  It was AWESOME!  The temperature drops a few degrees when you get to that part of the island and it was always so beautiful and comfortable outside.

Day 1 - arrived to our place about 5pm, went to Ka'anapali, had dinner, drinks with umbrellas, and watched the sunset. Gorgeous!
Day 2- Played around Lahina, checked out some beaches, shopped, drank, relaxed.  Awesome!
Day 3- Woke up at 1:30am, went to the peak of Mt Haleakala, watched the sunrise, biked down the volcano.  Walked around the town at the base, Pa'ia.  Relaxed, napped, and checked out the beaches in Kapalua that afternoon.
Day 4- Went on a helicopter ride (our first ever!!!) to Molokai (neighboring island). Then drove part way on the road to Hana.  We left the top down on the convertible while checking out one waterfall.  Started pouring rain.  Oh well.  At least we had beach towels to dry it off in our 'Emergency Beach bag".  :)
Day 5 - Rode a catamaran to Lani (neighboring island).  Snorkeled on the reefs, then had lunch on hulopoe beach (voted nicest beach in America),  Came back, sunburnt to all heck, but totally worth it!
Day 6- Sunburnt like crazy.  I stayed in read a book, and enjoyed the view from the shaded condo.  We checked out the resort a bit, and then went to a Luau!
Day 7- Flew to Oahu, checked out the Pearl Harbor memorial, had dinner on the Pier, and then flew home.  :(

We took a TON of pictures, so feel free to check them out:

Meghan,  If you do decide to look for a new job, tell them upfront that you are getting married and need x amount of time off.  Any company worth working for will be flexible for something like that.  If they aren't, they are probably going to be asshats about everything, and you don't really want to work there.

Good luck with whichever path you go, I know job searching can be difficult.

Serlace,  I have sort of looked into the alternative certification programs, because I already have a masters degree (and the requirements are a bachelors in anything).  I think I'd like to teach younger kids... maybe up through sixth grade or so?  I dunno what I'd like to teach... English, Reading, or Math are probably my top picks.  Science is probably the only thing I would NOT want to teach... although, elementary science could be fun...

I keep trying to spell science like this: schience.  Obviously I shouldn't teach schpelling :)

I just got a voicemail from a client, saying that getting ahold of his ex wife is "like making love to a porcupine... it's just hard"  Thank you, client, for making my day.

Angie, it's really self-explanatory!  :)  I use Facebook and each day just update my status with Day X: Today I'm thankful for... or whatever.  It helps you concentrate on the blessings in your life, which is supposed to help being MORE blessings.

Lately I've been concentrating on all the negatives and I really need to concentrate on how AWESOME my life can be.  :)

This but I need it to not rain this weekend in the Austin/Bastrop area.  We are going to my uncle's land this weekend to work on the ceremony and just get away and relax.  He lives out in the country in an old 1800's farm house.  If it is raining we have to run through the rain to the completely updated/awesome outhouse because the main house is so old there is no bathroom.  I don't feel like running through the rain everytime I or FI's daughter has to pee!!

I am so angry this morning.... my nerves had calmed a bit since the wedding, but this morning my ex-friend posted something on her FB, and it made me soo angry to see she is going on with life as if nothing has happened. How dare she?????

    I am so upset....

And her mother who lives out of state posted a comment on one of my honeymoon pics. I think she has no idea what her daugther did and how many people she hurt.

I go through swing of wanting to confront her to just wanting to put past me, but right now I am very very angry and very very hurt. :(

Michelle, that HM sounds freaking awesome!

Kathy, I hope you are able to let go of your anger soon.  Of course she has gone on with her life without a moment's thought.  That's what people like that do.  She is so self-centered, she probably had no idea the amount of grief she has caused you.  But holding on to the anger only hurts you, not her.

I can't wait to see everyone's wedding pictures.

Kathy - Would it help to write her a letter about the way you feel?   Not in such a way that she would get satisfaction from ruining your day, but more one that expresses your disappointment in her and might make her feel terrible about it.

I know, that accomplishes absolutely nothing but I think if I was in your shoes I would have to take some kind of action to get closure.

In any event, I agree, your new siggy pic is gorgeous!
