Flowers

All Candles

We are doing all candles at the reception. I am not a fan of flowers and the smell of them. However, at our ceremony we are going to have the flowers over the gazebo but the aisle lined with candles and flower pedals. What does everyone think of an all candle lit reception?

Re: All Candles

  • Before you commit to this look, check with your venue.  Some venues will not allow open flames because of local laws against open flames.   Candle centerpieces paired with metallic candlesticks have this subtly elegent look that I adore.
  • I love, love, love candles, but like Magdala said, make sure to check with your venue about their rules of open flames.  Many venues are fine with candles as long as the candle is contained within glass (meaning no bare taper candles in a candlestick).

I do think that the only way to pull off a candle only centerpiece is to use a high quantity of candles with a variety of sizes and heights.

  • Thanks ladies!!

My venue said we can use as many candles as we want in the reception, just not the ceremony which is outside on a golf course. I do however want the candles inside mercury glass or some kind of glass. Like floating candles with flower pedals for the centerpieces and small votives around. Nothing over the top. My only worry is the burn life of the candle. Will the candles burn for the whole 5 hours? I will have to make sure my florist gets the right candles!

    Thanks for your thoughts :)

Your florist will easily be able to order long burning candles.  Some burn for 8 hours and others can burn for up to 10.

  • i think that would be romantice and nice. I was actually considering at my reception doing have candles and the other half flowers since it is so expensive. What do you think about that one

Great idea. I am going to do half candles and half flowers.
  • Hello Ladies,

I would like to do half candles and half flowers at my reception. What do you think about that?
  • love that ladies! I am just doing candles, all different sizes and some floating with flower pedals. Flowers only for the ceremony. I am meeting with a few different florists who specialize in this so I will let you know the ideas they give me for candles and flowers!! Maybe i will change my mind lol :)
