    Hi there-

We recently did a rainbow wedding, and the brides wanted each bridesmaid to have a different color of the rainbow (with matching shoes) and they had every color in their bouquets. We were fine for all the colors except green and blue, so we ended up getting naturally green roses and dying them to enhance the color, and white roses to dye blue.

They didn't have any problem with the dye coming off or staining. HOWEVER, dyed flowers never look as good as natural flowers. It is very difficult to get the dye even, it reduces the life (dyed flowers will brown and wilt faster), and you're only really dying the outermost petals, so as the flowers start to open up, the original color will show through. This will probably be less of a problem if you're starting with darker (purple) roses to begin with).

Anyways- dying can definitely work. But I recommend to do it only as a last resort. What if you used eggplant calla lilies instead? They naturally come in several different shades of purple (from violet to almost black).

    Good luck with everything!

yes...................if they rub on your dress or are crushed they will make a permanent stain.   there are plenty of flowers that are purple. If it has to be a rose shape ....use a purple lisianthus. If it is eggplant purple you are trying to coordinate with  plum dahlias, schwartzwalder mini callas and a lot of pompons
