Anyone lining the aisle with petals?

Hey knotties!

I'm just wondering if any one is lining the edge of their aisle with rose petals? I REALLY want to do this, and I want it to look super full. I'm planning on just using silk petals, but I have NO idea how many I'll need. I have a 75ft aisle. I figured before I go snoopin around and doing trial and errors I'd see if anyone here had  a rough idea of how much I'd need...

TIA

It depends on how full you want it, but probably a lot for a 75' aisle. I would get 1 container of them and dump them out to see how much they cover and do the math to figure out how many you need.
    Ex.:
one container covers 2' with the volume you want. You have 150' to cover (75' for each side of the aisle), so you'd need 75 containers. It may get expensive doing the whole aisle. You could do half the aisle (where guests are seated) or even just do a ring around the altar if cost is an issue.

I've never done this, but that's how I'd figure it out, because it's hard to judge what "full" means to different people. This way, it will look how YOU want it to. HTH.  :)

be sure to figure out who will pick them all up.... The churches wont like the idea either will the venues.
It's pretty but a serious lot of work to clean up so make sure it is ok before you get your heart set on it...
Every venue and church in this area has banned them... I love the look .. but ya better ask first.

orientaltrading.com has the best prices on silk petals. I'm not lining my aisle with them, but I'm having my flower girl toss them.

I plan to purchase 12,000 petals for $200 from fiftyflowers.com.  They are real petals which hopefully will give off a nice fragance.  I bought a Michael's box of "300 petals" (which had really sheer/thin ones in there) to test it out.  To be conservative I estimated that the Michael's box would take the same volume as 200 real rose petals.  It covered about two feet long (maybe 9/10" wide).  So I need ~100 rose petals for every foot of aisle I want to cover.  For you, with a 75' aisle, that means you need to cover 150' (150x100=15,000 petals).  I highky recommend buying in bulk.  And, if you find a low cost silk petal vendor please come back to this post and share! Silk would be easier to re-use, with no worries about trying to keep them fresh up until the wedding!
