Flowers

no bouquets?

i have been considering not having any bouquets for me or for my bridesmaids. i am not planning to do a bouquet toss, so i will really only have a bouquet for my walk up and down the aisle and pictures. same goes for my bridesmaids. i really don't see the need for bouquets for just those reasons. do you all think it would look weird without them? anyone have any great alternatives? thanks!!!

Nope, I don't think it would be weird at all. It will certainly save you some money! The only thing that I think would potentially be weird would be that their arms would maybe look funny walking down the aisle without something in their hands, but maybe you could just have them walk down arm in arm with the groomsmen, and that way it wouldn't even look like they were missing flowers?

Regardless, I'm the kind of bride who thinks that you should have exactly the kind of wedding YOU want, regardless of etiquette, tradition, other people's wishes, etc. So if you say no bouquets - NO BOUQUETS!

do what you like for you... but i think you'll want something to hold on to and so will the girls...

Outside parasols are fun... in winter candles in glass, but personally i still like flowers.

And i know they are all the rage but i really don't think buttons and paper flowers and crafty stuff says bride... more like fun craft project...

    fan, bible, feathers, candles, maybe....

please not a purse...at least not for the bride!

If you don't want them, don't have them.

I saw an episode of Whose wedding is it anyway where they had feather fans, and she had a feather boquet for a roaring 20s speak easy-- so maybe look at your wedding style and see if there is something you and the girls can carry

thanks for the suggestions!! i do think that we should hold something cause i agree that it might look awkward to not have anything. i am going to see what simple arrangements a florist can come up with for me. i really love the origami flowers, but i'm so not crafty enough to pull that off!!!

I think it would look weird if they aren't carrying anything at all.  I can't imagine not having had them they were one of my favorite thigns about our wedding, I was really happy with what I had picked out and designed.

I'm going to have BM each hold a single gerbera daisy and I'll either hold 1 or 3. Each one will have a ribbon tied around the stem. I'm only using daisies for my flowers to save some money
