How much should flowers cost?

Hi All - I'm getting married in NYC in July and I'm wondering how much to spend on flowers? This includes everything, the huppah, the tables, bouquets, etc.... We just got a quote this is double our budget, so I'm wondering what everything costs and what others are spending.

the "rule of thumb" is that the flowers should cost about 10% of your overall wedding budget.  Of course depending on your region flowers can be more less expensive.  If you have a budget you need to tell your florist what it is and see what they can offer you within that price range.

you could also ask this question on your local wedding board and see what others in your area have spent or they might have recommendations as to which florist to use.
