Questions about Sunflowers

I'm using sunflowers as my main flower. We have decided to celebrate the life of my older sister by remembering her with her favorite flower. I almost refuse to part with this idea since it is one of the most important parts of my wedding.

So it comes down to this: Does anyone know how expensive sunflowers are in the month of May? What flowers would go well with sunflowers? I have little experience with purchasing flowers and putting bouqets together and I'm looking to you ladies to help me out here! Thanks in advance!

I am looking to use Sunflowers for an October wedding next year and I keep finding sites that state that they are used for spring, summer, and fall weddings, so I think they will be in season.  I am thinking about including some roses (these are the only flowers that my future husband has ever bought me) and some gerber daises just because hey are big and I think beautiful.

Costco.com has sunflower wedding collections and sunflower bulk flowers.

A 40 piece wedding collection, 1 bridal bouquet, 5 BM bouquets, 2 petite hand ties, 12 corsages, 12 bouts, 6 centerpieces is $750. According to the reviews, if you want a smaller collection, they will make it available, it's not on the website. There are only 3 reviews, but all are 5 stars.

The bulk sunflower order (make your own bouquets/arrangements) is $90 for 80 stems, or $130 for 150 stems.

We will be getting our flowers from Costco, and my recollection is that the price is the same regardless of the month.

    amyshi- Thank you! :)

Vanessarf07-I think that's great. I thought about including roses but I feel that it may be easier for me to keep track of only one type of flower. ;) Gerber daisies are gorgeous!

Sue-n-Kevin- THANKS! That was a huge help! I'm a huge costco fan, why didn't I think about that?!

That's really a nice way to remember your sister :)

My best friend LOVES sunflowers so when she got married she wanted all us bridesmaids to have sunflower boquets....her mom bought them in bulk from costco and bought black ribbon from Michaels for really cheap.  She used about 5 sunflowers per boquet and used the black ribbon to wrap around the stem.  I thought it looked really nice....she had sunflowers left over and she actually ended up putting them in the arch that my friend got married under.  Hope that info helps! :)
