HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH???

I just got a quote from our florist and we are at almost 6K for what I want. Am I crazy for wanting to spend that much or is that average or at least close to?? HELP, because my fiance and I are paying for about 90% of the wedding and he thinks I have lost my mind.....

First, what all did you ask for?  Second, flower prices vary from region to region.  Third, if you feel like that is really high I would go to another florist or two and have them provide a quote for what you want to see if there is any difference in price.

6K on flowers would make my head explode but it really depends on what you've asked for and your overall budget.

I'm hoping to stay under $400 for our flowers. If you think its high try getting a quote elsewhere.

I guess its personal preferance. But I think 6K would be way out of my budget. I spent just under $1000 for mine. I love flowers and its an important part of my wedding but I had to put a limit on what I could afford. What does your FI think is a good amount to spend? If it was me, I would try to meet him half way on the cost.

Flowers were pretty important to me and although I could have easily spent $5K, that was out of the question.  I spend half of that and was very happy with my flowers.  I would definitely get more quotes and realize that you can easily scale it down--it's just a matter of what you want and being happy.

i'm embarassed to admit i spent more...eek!  i think generally it has mroe to do with your overall budget.  flowers are often about 10% of your budget (obviously this varies-a LOT).  go from there i guess?

Our florist gave us a quote of around $2400.  We're doing calla lillies for my bouquet, callas and roses for the BM and callas for the table centerpieces (roughly 38 tables).

I'm going to be paying around $2500 for 28 tables, 11 boutinierres, 3 corsages, 8 bouquets, 1 cake topper, 1 halo, and petals for tossing. This is in Dutchess County, NY. I'm using a combo of tall and short centerpieces, and filling them with lots of green to get the big look I want without spending another $1200, which is what was originally quoted to me. Florists want your business and should be willing to work within whatever budget you have.  If the cost is too high, adjusting the centerpieces is the fastest way to take $$ off the cost.

Our original quote was more than that. Flowers are really important to me. We're going to scale it back a little, but our flowers will probably end up at around $6,000. You have to decide if it will blow your budget and if you are okay with spending that much on flowers.

We're spending about $750 (not including centerpieces), but that's because 6, is about 1/2 of my budget...10% or a little less is normal for flowers.

For an average sized wedding with an average budget, that is pretty high for typical wedding flowers.

If you are usiing a very in demand, artistically acclaimed florist, and have massive amounts of exotic or extraneous decorations, then it would not be unheard of.

If you are only asking for a few bouquets, bouts, corsages, and reasonably sized centerpieces, and using fairly standard type flowers, then $6K is outrageous.

The florist I booked quoted me $1,500 if I bought my own vases.  And $1,900 if she supplied everything.

I have 1 bridal bouquet, 7 BM bouquets, 5 corsages, 13 boutonnieres, 1 arch decoration, 2 altar arrangements, 5 orchid centerpieces for a piano, 29 centerpieces, 8 pomander balls and a mini toss bouquet.

Flowers consist of: dahlias, orchids, David Austin roses (look like peonies), and hydrangea.  She'll use other various fillers if we need them.

But i received quotes of over 2500 from other larger florists.

Flowers aren't important to me but I cant imagine one without, so any more than $2,000 for me was crazy since they just die.
