Different flowers for church& reception?

for my reception I've had my heart set on hydrangeas (as a filler in my centerpieces ) and possibly oriental lillys

BUT for the church I def wanted to do silk pomander balls (using silk roses )
But then I forgot about my bouquet and the boutiniers & the altar decorations ... And I see I can order bulk roses for dirt cheap !

Ps I'm DIYing everything

So is it okay to mix? And the type of centerpiece I'm doing roses won't look right unless if there's a least a few ( which I'm trying to stay away from)

I have never once noticed if the reception flowers match the ceremony flowers. Indeed, maybe I should be kicked off the flowers board altogether, because, in a bout of insomnia, I tried to remember details from every single wedding I've ever attended. I remembered only two flower details: There was a red-and-white redding that had all red-and-white flowers. There were 2 weddings in which bridesmaids carried only single, large roses.

I don't see why you couldn't have two different sets of flowers.  One reason people keep the flowers the same is to use some of the ceremony flowers for the reception to save on cost.

I think that it is fine to mix n match. Believe me, nobody is going to be upset if the ceremony and reception flowers don't match. As someone who DIY'd flowers, I would highly suggest doing a trial run of the hydrangeas before you do your wedding day flowers. Hydrangeas tend to wilt faster than hardier flowers like roses. I'd do a test run in your vases and see how long they last just to be safe.
