Flower Nightmare

I ordered all my flowers and was so excited but now the florist is like MIA we have already paid her 400$ but at this point im soo discouraged by her and when I tried calling her and taking some items off she got all upset and said she was dissappointed now im scared shes going to make my flowers look terrible ... I havent signed a contract or anything I want to just call my bank and cancel the check since it hasnt cleared yet and try and find another florist ... but i dont know if that is ok to do.. any ideas?

You should call her or go in and talk to her first about this and try to resolve these issues before you do anything drastic. Maybe it was just a misunderstanding or miscommunication. You're pretty close to your wedding and trying to find another florist will be difficult.

You should not have given her a deposit without a contract. You cannot stop payment on the check without warning her. She's not missing-in-action if you were able to reach her to change your order and she seriously discussed it with you. You need to make up your mind on the flowers: What you want and how much you're willing to pay. Then you should make an appointment with the florist to sign a contract.

Also, it wasn't nice to decrease your order. I don't know how big it was or how big your change was. It sounds like this is a small shop unused to weddings. But she may have reserved your entire wedding day for her business, thinking she was going to have X amount in sales from your order. Changing it costs her business she may not be able to make up. It's like if you suddenly significantly decreased your headcount for the caterer, they'd say they still need their minimum in sales.

changing your order for flowers should not be a problem.My brides have until 2 weeks before the wedding to make changes.  Call and make an appointment to finalize everything.....and do it asap. If she still has an attitude put a stop payment on the checkcall her and et her know you did it and that you are canceling your order because of her attitude and then call a reputable florist. Not the one that is the cheapest.    Sometimes you get what you pay for.  I have done many weddings last minute. It is your wedding and you get to have it the way you can afford and want it .....end of story

I agree with both arguments here.  I would let your florist know that you too are dissapointed, but you want to come to an agreement since you did not sign a contract ( that would normally indicate dates of when you are able to make changes to the contract).  Express that it concerns you when you are not able to get a hold of her promptly.  If you cannot seem to come to an agreement then politely say, I don't think we are a good fit together and I am going to hire another florist.  She woudl be legally obligated to return your money, since there is not contract.
