Re: PSA's - Today's Groupon - Boudoir Photo Shoot

  • This photographer has actually stolen the boudoir images on her site from other photographers across the US.
  • Oooh, sounds like a pretty good deal. Does anyone have any reviews of this Noell Strahan lady?

I checked her website and she does good work, but there are only a few boudoir photos shown.

  • Oops. Shay, looks like you must have posted while I was writing. How do you know? Is there proof of that somewhere?

  • I personally don't have a screen shot of her site but others do. She has taken some of tge pics down Here is her FB business page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Noell-Strahan-Photography-Studio-Salon/199549796740796 She stole images from Opie photography in Utah among others
  • Whoa, oh no!  Well, I just got this in my email and thought I would pass it along.  I have never heard of her, know nothing about her, etc.  But I know girls are always looking for boudoir...ugh, I won't be doing this anymore in the future.  Brianna can delete this if she sees fit.

I'm getting a little wary of Groupon--I have heard bad things about other businesses that they advertise.  I guess there is a reason they are cheap deals!
  • Stephie, YGPM.

Don't feel bad about posting. You were just passing along the info, not throwing her name out with balloons and fireworks!

  • Stephie you had good intentions posting this and you were being helpful :) just knowing what I do, I had to speak up. But please don't let this stop you from being the great help you are :)
  • Shay, are you a photog, too?

It's just awful that anyone could do that, especially a person with artistic ambition that should understand how much effort goes into your/their work!
    Anniversary
  • Yes I'm a photographer and that's how I know. I promise I'm not here to pimp myself so I won't give my name. I'm only trying to help, I'm promise :)
  • Aah I see. No, no I wasn't thinking that at all! I was just curious. Thanks for the info. :)

  • I just looked at her site and at the bottom it says "Voted #1 on THEKNOT.com & the BBB as the #1 CHOICE for WEDDINGS." Is that legit? And what is the BBB--all I can think of is the Better Business Bureau and I can't see that they would be voting on wedding photographers. Bizarre.

And also, Stephie, I agree with everyone else that you didn't do anything wrong by sharing it--I don't think there's anyway anyone could have known. I would have assumed that groupon would have a better vetting process, especially for someone who is going to be taking pictures of women in their underthings, wtf.

  • Well thanks--I just feel like maybe I should have checked it out better.  I just didn't think I had to!  But I also think that if it's true, Groupon should be alerted.

From what I hear, stuff like this certainly does happen. There is so much to being a photographer besides taking pictures, and alot of it is no fun.
  • Groupon has been alerted by lots of people. They have not it removed it. In fact they are being just as shady. The picture featured was changed by the photographer or Groupon, not sure by who. 2 people have bought it and it makes me sad they are getting duped. And yes she is claiming accolades she clearly doesn't have. I know the knot does Knot picks but as far as I know there is no voted number one by the knot.
  • And Stephie you are right you shouldn't have to do an investigation of Groupons. They should only work with businesses that are ethical.

    I totally agree.
  • PS:  If you read through their testimonials, they don't have too many and a couple happened quite a while back ('07 and '05).  Also, they mainly talk about make up.  Lastly, I don't remember seeing them up by the Regis the last time we walked from Macy's to the theater.  I'm not saying they're not there, I just don't remember seeing them.
