We looked into ordering our flowers from Costco , but a good friend of mine who had recently gotten married and did use them, she was very unhappy about it. The flowers showed up 4 days before the wedding (the website says it should have been the day before) and they were wilted and a few stems were broken. it was too late for them to ship out more, so she had to go to Shoprite for centerpieces and deal with wilted bouquets Not to discourage you from your choice, but that was her experience with them , so I would get some reviews in your area before deciding. It seems like a great deal mony wise, but you get what you pay for I guess.
I ordered bulk flowers from Costco, but not for home delivery.
About a year before my wedding I went to the local Costco and asked at the customer service desk who the local florist was that arranged the flowers for the in-store kiosk. They gave me her phone number. I called her and asked how to go about doing this.
She said to call her about 3-4 weeks before the wedding with a date 3 days before the wedding for pick up. She can get ANY flowers that are available on their website in bulk, and sometimes flowers that are not online. I decided to go with white Asiatic lillies, white vendella roses and 2 large bunches of baby's breath. So, I called 3 weeks before the wedding, and ordered 80 stems of white Asiatic lillies (there are 3-4 lillies per stem), 8 dozen white vendella roses and 2 large bunches of baby's breath. This was $173.
When I went there on the day of pickup, she was there. I looked through the flowers and only left behind 1 package of the roses. They were in large black buckets she let me bring home to store them, to be returned later. They came with floral food and she gave good directions: unwrap the flowers, put new water in the buckets with the floral food, and place in the basement to allow them to open up. I made the table arrangements the Friday morning before the wedding and took them to the reception venue that night before the rehearsal.
All along I felt like I had a "secret source" of fabulously priced fresh flowers, until she told me she does this up to 18 times in a week!
Here's the tall arrangement, with white asiatic lillies and the green "grass" they came with, and baby's breath:
Here are the lower centerpieces I made with roses and baby's breath.
Check with your local Costco, I have a feeling this is possible with all their stores.
I did order the 20 piece wedding package of white roses for the bouquets, bouts and corsages for $399, as while I didn't mind making 10 centerpieces, I didn't want to do the other things, too much for me as I did these alone. These orders have to be placed a minimum of 30 days before the wedding. Everything was perfect!
I was very happy with the quality of the flowers I received and most brides are. It sounds like jerzmom's friend had a rare poor experience.
