DO Not get your flowers at Atkins Farms

I'm getting married at the Lord Jeffery Inn (Amherst, MA), early 2014 but live out of state. We are contracted through the Lord Jeff to have our wedding cake made at Atkins Farms. Seeing as though they also have a floral shop and I will be in the state two weekends from now, I called to set up a consultation. The floral manager, Sue Stosz, said it was "too early to begin thinking about flowers" and told me I "couldn't possibly have a theme picked out yet."  I told Susan that if she wasn’t willing to help me I would have to look elsewhere. She was unabashedly rude, assumptive and wholly unprofessional. After she told me that she would not be able to help me further, I called back and asked for a manager. They forwarded me directly back to her. She then proceeded to tell me that talking to a manager “wouldn’t get me anywhere”, because her boss is her sister-in-law. Instead of working with a future client with who is excited about the prospect of doing thousands of dollars’ worth of business with Atkins Farms, Sue Stosz has ruined my opinion, attitude and outlook toward their entire business.  This unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and Sue Stosz not having to answer for this lack of customer service and basic incivility is classic nepotism at its finest. DO NOT patronize this business.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with the florist. I am from North Carolina and living up here in Massachusetts with my fiance. We moved for his job, but we're hoping to get back home soon though. The behavior you described is very much what I have come to expect from my patients and pretty much everyone I come in contact with. I guess I have gotten used to it now, but every now and then someone does something so incredibly rude I don't know how to respond. Anyway, I feel you. I hope you find a florist that is happy to help you and wants your business. I'm getting married in October and have already started thinking about my centerpieces and flowers. I certainly don't think it's too early to look at ideas, get estimates because I'm balancing the wedding budget in other areas. Good luck.
