Cost of flowers?

I am unsure as to how much a florist should cost for a wedding.  I met with one today and loved him.  I'm looking at just under $600 for 12 small centerpieces, my bouqet, toss bouquet, 3 corsages, 2 ceremony aislerunners, and a bag of petals.  Does this sound average?  It is less than I was expecting but I still want to make sure I'm not overpaying.  How much was your florist?

Mine is still a rough estimate since my wedding still alittle more then a year away. But I am going with calla lilies, the big ones, and having about 7 in my bouquet. Then for the girls(4 BM) three calla lilies of them, with like an iris or something for a contrast. Plus all the wrist corsages for the mom's/grandmas (roughly 4) and the bouts for the guys with the mini calla (4 GM, including groom, the dad's, and my brother who is the usher), and the gerbera daisies for the centerpieces (roughly 25), which will be DIY, for roughly $420. We are still debating about the flower girl flowers, I am going to see if she wants her little bouquet or flowers to throw down the aisle since she is alittle older then typical flower girls. And if I do go through the place that I met with, I will be getting the 'throw away' bouquet for free. So it's doable. Hope this helps

That sounds pretty good.  My florist in Gainesville charged me $1200 for:

1 bridal bouquet

1 toss bouquet

4 BM bouquets

3 mom corsages

7 bouts

1 gazebo garland

2 small bar arrangements

2 large buffet arrangements

10 small centerpieces

It all depends on areas. I live in West Palm Beach, FL and I am getting:

8 large CP's with 4 little CP's at each guest table; votives and rose petals
1 bridal bouquet; 2 BM's bouquets
1 extra large CP for escort card table
2 extra large all white CP's for the ceremony
Little floral arrangements for every other chair at ceremony about 10
7 mini CP's for cocktail hour

I am also getting (she works with rental companies):
80 chavari chairs
8 Black pintuck table cloths

Total: $2,500

Definitely depends on your area.  I live right outside Baltimore, MD and for $2200 I am getting...
1 bridal bouquet
2 bridemaid bouquets
10 bouts
2 nosegays (for the Mom's)
2 single roses (for the Grandmom's)
10 vases filled with water and a few orchid stems and floating candles for aisle
2 alter pieces
16 centerpieces (2 different types)

I am sure if I hadn't worked at the florist I am going with for 4 years then what I got would have definitely been a lot more.  She is also adding a lot of little extras (a crap load of votives and petals and such all over) for free plus free delivery and set-up.  I am pretty sure this amount of flowers would have probably been in $3ks without my discount

That actually sounds very reasonable.  Many people pay that much or more for just the WP flowers, or just the centerpieces.  The only way to keep it below $500-600 is to DIY the flowers.

Costs vary quite a bit by region.  You might want to check on  your local board, and also get another estimate or two, so you'll know more what is average in  your area.

I spent almost that much on just the flowers for my wedding party so that sounds pretty low to me.
