Flowers

Wedding colors and floral choices

So our invites and linens are green (honeydew) and blue (turquoise). Initially I selected all white floral designs. We are getting married at an ocean resort in the evening. Bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen tuxedos are black.

I really like the look of pink flowers and think it provides a nice contrast to the black dresses. However, I am afraid that because there is no other pink in our invites/decor it will look odd.  Should I just stick with all white flowers? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Pink is pretty, but with the linens would probably look too "little kid-ish".

With your wedding party in black, you could do the all white, with some greenery tucked in. I think that would be lovely.

I would say either try to stick with the greens and blues- you could use hydrangea or orchids for the blue, and hypericum berries, bells of ireland or even natural green roses (I think the names are green beauty or green supreme). Any of these would look great mixed in with white flowers if you wanted.

Or go for a stark contrast with pink, or maybe orange. Go for "hot colors" as opposed to more pastel shades. Or if thats what you're looking for- use a more mellow shade of orange, almost like dreamsicle or melon color.

And remember that there's really no need to coordinate with your invites (because noone is going to bring them to the wedding), unless you've used themes from the invitations in any of your other decorations. Pink or orange will both look great with turquoise linens.

    Hope that helps!

Your flowers only have to look pretty in the setting in which they will be viewed (on tables or with the WP wearing/carrying them), they don't have to match or coordinate with every other detail of your wedding.

Pink will look pretty against the black BM dresses, and also on tables with green and turquoise accents.  If you feel it should coordinate more, do mixed color bouquets (maybe pink, green, and white?), or add some green flowers or berries to the pink flowers, and maybe some turquoise ribbon if you're doing hand tied bouquets.

Some flowers that come in green are hydrangea, carnations, roses, pom pom mums, orchids, or hypericum berries.  I could even see some peacock feathers with a lot of turquoise in them.
