Dahlia Centerpiece Help

Ok I need BIG help with my centerpieces, fast. My wedding is in just about a month. I have NO idea what the hell to do.

I really liked carnation bundles, but I don't have carnations anywhere else in my wedding, so I decided not to go with that.
My BMs are carrying dahlias so I figured that's a better bet for centerpieces.
I've scoured TK and the internet for pictures, but I'm coming up blank.

I don't want anything tall. I think tall centerpieces are really pretty, but I find them a bit of PITA when trying to converse with the person across from you at the table. Also, the tables at our reception are oblong, so I'd need something a bit wider.

Every picture online is at a round table, and those centerpieces would just be too small. The only images I'm finding at long or rectangular tables have flowers at individual seats, and I don't want to do that either as it would be expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else used dahlias for centerpieces??

Dahlias are a great choice for this time of year.  They'll be great in September.  If you have access to any kind of local farm or farmstand where they're grown and sold, they should be very inexpensive.  Pricing will be better if you don't mind assorted color bunches.  An easy way would be to get a bunch of clear glass vases - small ones - at garage sales and/or 99-cent stores.  Simply fill them with water, then randomly cut your dahlias and place them in the vases.  Don't worry too much about perfect "arrangement".  In fact, a more "loose" style of arranging will have its own great look.  Use multiple vases for each centerpiece - that way you can "stretch" them to suit the shape and size of your tables.  Small vases in multiples make it easy to arrange, give you flexibility in terms of table "coverage", and are great for end-of-the-party "give-aways" or "favors" for your guests.

    I like pp's suggestions.

Also, perhaps one long/rectangular, low vase like this

on an oblong table with some randomly placed/scattered low, individual or coupled dahlias:

    Just some thoughts. Good luck!

OK, so this is a bit of a weird source for a centerpiece idea - but, check out this pic from the dollar tree...

It looks a little cheesy in their pic, but, with the right color flowers, it could be a great (and cheap!) centerpiece for a long table...

Thanks SO much for your help ladies!! I'm thinking I like the multiple ideas. I was thinking perhaps one larger one in the center with white dahlias and red hypericum, and then on either side smaller arrangements of red dahlias with green hypericum. I had found gold bowls and julep cups I was going to use, but now that I've seen that Dollar Tree picture, I'm thinking maybe I'll alternate higher and lower glass vases like that with red in the low and white in the high. I love that image you linked!
