Flowers

i have no idea what i'm doing!!!! =)

help! i just met with a florist for the first time this morning & left feeling rather iffy about it....

she was really, really sweet & i've heard lots of good things about her but there were several things that bugged me:

1) she never asked me what my budget was for flowers

2) she just assumed i would be hiring her....i thought i was just there for a consult

3) when i mentioned my budget at the end (cuz i figured one of us needed to bring it up!) she made no indication if she thought the figure would cover what we had discussed.

i'm supposed to meet up with her again at the end of the month....what happens if we can't agree on a price?

Your profile said you're wedding date is 8/27/11, is this right?  If this is your date then you need things ironed out ASAP.  Do you have any other florists you want to meet with?

A lot of vendors think you're going to hire them right away (or that they're already hired) so let them know that you are looking around and you have a couple more to see before you make your decision.  This may also help you get a better price or some extras thrown in if they know that you're still looking.

If you're going back to meet the florist from this morning, I would email her and let her know what you expect of your next meeting.  Let her know your budget (again) and what flowers you would like and see if that fits within your budget.  Don't forget to ask about delivery and set up fees.

I met with a florist for the first time this morning myself.  I really liked him a lot!  He first asked what types of flowers I liked, then offered some opinions.  He asked my colors and theme first then offered guidance on what to do with it.  I told him that I didn't want a lot of flowers and I want to skip many of the traditional pieces like boutonnieres and lots of centerpieces and he didn't even blink.  He actually said that I would be better off with a less expensive option since it seemed to go better with my theme.  I think if you already feel iffy on that florist upon your first meeting you may want to move on and try another.
Jonathan's Flowers on Park Ave in Winter Park is where I went this morning.  I did the consultation with him, had brunch, and went back and booked it and paid in full.  I was that confident in him.  If you're in the Orlando area, I would check him out.
