Has anyone done their own submerged flower centerpieces?

Hello all,

I'm trying to find ways to keep my wedding costs down.  I *love* the look of purple orchids or a white rose submerged in water, with a floating candle on top.  Has anyone tried to do this themselves?  Was it worth it - cost wise and time wise?  Did you use real or fake flowers?  I've heard that water magnifies the flower, so if you have any imperfections they become very obvious.  Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yes worth it - cost was under $10/centrepiece for mine. I used fakes, but make sure to 'shock' the flower if using any coloured flower (or the dyes will run and stain the water).

I am doing my own too. I am using fake flowers. I love the way they came out. I will take a picture and post it at some point.

Id love to see a pic of yours! What kind of flower did you decide to use?

I would use real because what if the fakes bleed after a while..or rust or something... I think real are also cheaper and prettier...  a touch of salt in the water will help the blooms sink too..
