Flowers

flowers needed?!?

Does anyone know where I can find out how many flowers I will need depending on the size I want my centerpieces? I'm doing them myself and my fear is that I won't order enough or way to much- HELP!

I know next to nothing about flowers so I can only help a little....what I did when I was contemplating DIY center-pieces was go to the local grocery store florist, get what yiou need, or close to it anyways and do a trial run. That way you know how many of each you need. I've since decided no flowers at the reception and am just doing candles and rose petals - flowers are entirely too muich stress!

That's what we did too.  We bought a dozen roses at the grocery store and saw what it looked like in the vases we had.  It also helped me to estimate how big I wanted my DIY bouquet.  (BM's had about 12 roses, mine had 16-18... they were big)

What type of vase did you get?

Trial runs are super important when DIYing.  You not only get a sense of how many flowers you need but also how well the flowers you use hold up.  Practice, practice, practice!

I have been in the flower business for 10 years and I am actually doing my own wedding flowers...I know some people think I am crazy but it is my thing and I wouldnt be happy unless i had a hand in my own wedding flowers

I strongly reccomend you make a sample 1-2 weeks prior to buying everything to make your centerpieces.  This will really help you determine how many flowers you need in each one.  And when buying for all the centerpieces dont forget to take into consideration flowers that may break or just may not hold up and be good.  I would reccomend you account for atleast 5-10 extra stems of each flower just in case.  And if you have extras you can make a cute little arrangement for the bathroom or somewhere else.  Flowers brighten up any space!

Have fun and be creative!!!  I wish you luck :)
